President Trump is sticking to his guns over his decision to bring our troops in Syria home. Look, we do not have, nor have we had, a long-term strategy there.
We had a beat ISIS strategy but not a beat and overthrow Assad strategy which leaves a giant hole in our plans because it eliminates most of them.
With the region stabilized and with ISIS all but eradicated (remember we still have positions all over the middle east so it is not like we are leaving the entire region), Trump is correct it is time to bring that part of the conflict to an end.
Trump revealed his reasons in a video posted on his Twitter account revealing the heartbreaking letters he has to write to the families of our fallen heroes and how they weigh heavily.
He said these soldiers have done enough – have done more than anyone could have expected and that it is time. Let’s see his critics argue with this.
From The Hill: President Trump on Wednesday defended his decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria, saying “we have won” the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
In a video posted to his Twitter account, the president invoked the memory of service members who died fighting in the Middle Eastern country while explaining his decision.
“They’re all coming back and they’re coming back now. We won, and that’s the way we want it and that’s the way they want it,” Trump said while looking up and pointing to the sky.

Earlier today Trump stunned the world and received a ton of incoming when he announced he was bringing the troops home.
From USA Today: President Donald Trump has ordered the more than 2,000 U.S troops in Syria be withdrawn as quickly as possible from their posts, according to a U.S. official.
The withdrawal is based Trump’s decision that the mission against the Islamic State is complete, said the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly before it is announced.
In a tweet on Wednesday morning, Trump declared victory over the Islamic State in Syria.
“We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency,” he wrote.
