Another week in Washington another massive loss for Nancy Pelosi. Look, Pelosi went on a showboating display in the oval office and gloated that Trump didn’t have the votes in the House for the wall.
It was a huge miscalculation and it was an even worse bluff because it gave the GOP what they needed – an out.
The GOP controls the government but Trump needs 60 votes in the Senate and most Americans don’t pay attention enough to understand the minutiae of D.C.
So the only way to really drive home to Americans that it is Schumer who behind the shutdown is to pass a bill in the House and dare Chuck to block it.
Americans understand those optics which is why Pelosi’s bluff was such a blunder – she guaranteed the GOP had to take a vote on the wall funding when they had no intention to do so.
They were quite content to let Trump twist in the breeze, believe me, they were ready to get out of dodge for a few days before they start lucrative lobbying careers after their disastrous midterms.
Pelosi, in typical liberal fashion, gloated before the deed was done, she literally counted and sold her chickens before and they did not hatch.
Instead, she gave Trump some leverage over the House, which he used to get them to do their jobs. Trump won and Nancy knows it. From The Daily Wire:

He also loves needling Rep. Nancy Pelosi, who’s about to be Trump’s best friend in the 2020 election (after she takes over as House Speaker in January).
On Thursday, after the House voted to add $5.7 billion for security and a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border back into a spending bill, the president gave the California Democrat a little kick.
“Soon to be Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, last week live from the Oval Office, that the Republicans didn’t have the votes for Border Security. Today the House Republicans voted and won, 217-185. Nancy does not have to apologize. All I want is GREAT BORDER SECURITY!” Trump wrote on Twitter.
Pelosi had taunted Trump last week in an Oval Office meeting, saying he couldn’t get the wall funding through the House. “The fact is you do not have the votes in the House,” Pelosi told Trump.
“Nancy, I do,” he said, to which Pelosi replied, “Well, let’s take the vote and we’ll find out.”
The House voted: Trump won.
