Trump Declares Victory Over ISIS, Fixes Another Obama Mess

Trump just fixed another major Obama mess and declared victory over ISIS in a stunning move.

ISIS has been eradicated and left for dead in what little territory they still control. So Trump was faced with a decision.

Go and drag Assad out by the hair on his neck and throw him in jail for his atrocities – which Obama did not want to do – or find a new strategy.

Obama secretly funded and armed the resistance to Assad but was weak about it and left them hanging out to dry numerous times.

He refused to enforce his red line and Assad grew bolder while ISIS was running rampant and Russia joined to help prop up Assad.

Turkey was involved as well and you can add Iran and Iraq and in all, it was a mess and in typical Obama fashion he punted and kicked the can down the road.

To be fair, Bush left Barack a mess as well – what was needed was bold, new thinking and we got that with Trump.

From USA Today: President Donald Trump has ordered the more than 2,000 U.S troops in Syria be withdrawn as quickly as possible from their posts, according to a U.S. official.

The withdrawal is based Trump’s decision that the mission against the Islamic State is complete, said the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly before it is announced.

In a tweet on Wednesday morning, Trump declared victory over the Islamic State in Syria.

“We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency,” he wrote.

From The Daily Mail:

The move is likely to please Turkish president Recep Erdogan, who wants to counter U.S. allied Kurdish forces in Syria and who spoke with Trump by telephone last week. He has been threatening an assault on U.S. allied Kurdish forces, who have been effective in helping to combat ISIS.

As the U.S. is preparing to pack up, Russia is moving in. After carrying out a fight in Syria billed as an anti-terror campaign but also buttressing Assad, Russia has begun building a permanent military presence, Reuters reported, quoting the Russian defense minister. The Russian parliament ratified a deal with Damascus on the permanent presence, the RIA news agency reported.

The deal would expand the Tartus naval facility, Russia’s only naval foothold in the Mediterranean, and grant Russian warships access to Syrian waters and ports, Viktor Bondarev, head of the upper house security and defense committee, told RIA.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has pushed for a longer-term presence to make sure ISIS does not return to its former power, having been rolled back from its sprawling geographic base in Iraq and Syria.
