Jeff Flake just can’t take no for an answer. He was run out of Arizona by the voters and his colleagues can’t stand him for his flip-flopping.
One day he his protesting Trump by blocking the Senate’s business (followed quickly by a mad dash to the TV cameras) and the next day he is voting yes to every GOP bill.
He is grandstanding for a run in 2020 and everyone knows it and while he was able to Cory ‘Spartucus’ Booker on his side, Flake fell short again with his latest attack on Trump.
From The Hill: Legislation protecting special counsel Robert Mueller from being fired was blocked in the Senate on Wednesday for a third time in roughly a month.
Retiring GOP Sen. Jeff Flake (Ariz.) asked consent to get a vote on the long-stalled legislation, which passed out of the Judiciary Committee in April.
But Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who has argued the legislation isn’t needed because he doesn’t believe President Trump will try to fire Mueller, objected.
The objection all but guarantees the bill won’t pass this year, with the Senate poised to wrap up its work for the year as soon as Wednesday.
Flake, who is retiring in January, argued that ensuring Mueller’s investigation continues “is critical to upholding public trust in our institutions of government.”
The bill “maintains a significant degree of presidential control while protecting the special counsel investigations from being terminated by a president whom might feel that he or she is under increasing heat,” Flake added.

Flake questioned why his colleagues weren’t “up in arms” after a string of tweets from President Trump bashing Mueller’s investigation into the 2016 election.
“With the president tweeting on a regular basis, a daily basis, that the special counsel is conflicted, that he is leading so-called 12 angry Democrats and demeaning and ridiculing him in every way, to be so sanguine about the chances of him being fired is folly for us,” Flake said.
