House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., just knocked Nancy Pelosi off her arrogant high horse for telling Trump she may impeach him again.
He threatened to introduce a motion to oust Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. if she dares try to bring forth a second round of impeachment charges to stop Trump’s new SCOTUS pick.
It is not as crazy as it sounds – Pelosi made a deal to get the top job and her hold is tenuous at best. Add that the moderates – Kevin would need around 20 of them to defect to him to remove Pelosi – are mad Pelosi won’t make a deal on a new stimulus plan.
“I will make you this one promise, listening to the speaker on television this weekend, if she tries to move for an impeachment based upon the president following the Constitution, I think there will be a move on the floor to no longer have the question of her being Speaker. She may think she has a quiver — we do too,” McCarthy said Wednesday.
He added: “The president is supposed to move forward and they will. The Senate is supposed to take the action and they will — it’s their constitutional right and they are following through.”
“Listening to the Speaker on television this weekend, if she tries to move for an impeachment based upon the president following the Constitution, I think there will be a move on the floor to have her no longer be the Speaker. She may think she has a quiver, we do too,” McCarthy added quoting Pelosi’s “quiver” comments again for effect.
When McCarthy spoke with Laura Ingraham last week he said “What I’m in favor of is defeating Nancy Pelosi and Nadler and all the others,” McCarthy said as he made his pitch for Republicans deposing Pelosi, D-Calif., the old-fashioned way — by winning elections on Nov. 3.”
“If we were able to remove Nancy Pelosi you’d have another Democrat. The real challenge would be we’re … four weeks away from [the] election, or 40-some days. These Democrats could actually vote against Nancy Pelosi, use it in their campaigns to say they’re not with her, even though they vote with her 95% of the time,” he continued.
“We won every special election we played in and that was in Democrat seats that Democrats won by 9 more than points and it happened to be in California,” he added.
