Kayleigh McEnany Rebukes Mitt Romney Over Liz Cheney: “Exact opposite of Romney’s statement is true”

Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany rebuked Mitt Romney after the Utah Senator rushed to defend Liz Cheney ahead of the vote to oust her from GOP leadership. Kevin McCarthy called for a vote today to decide Cheney’s fate and while a ringing endorsement from Romney would probably backfire, Mitt gave it to Cheney nevertheless.

Romney said, “Expelling Liz Cheney from leadership won’t gain the GOP one additional voter, but it will cost us quite a few.” Enter Kayleigh McEnany who said, “Romney says ‘expelling Liz Cheney will drive away voters. This just simply isn’t the case. Republican leadership should reflect Republican voters.”

McEnany continued, “Straying from that concept will undoubtedly hemorrhage Republican voters. Exact opposite of Romney’s statement is true.”

O.J. Simpson joined Mitt in defending Cheney: “Watching cable news, it’s all about Liz Cheney. Now, I got to admit, I was not a fan of Liz Cheney. Don’t get me wrong, I’m 50/50 on her politics, but I didn’t like her,” OJ said. “Then, I just realized recently, the reason I didn’t like her had to do with her father.”

Simpson then said Liz’s father Dick Cheney may be his “least favorite politician.” “Then I saw a show the other day, and I saw a quote by Voltaire, it said that ‘patriotism was the enemy of mankind.’ I thought about that a little bit. Somehow, I started thinking about the Republican Party.”

“Liz Cheney stands up for the truth,” Simpson said. “That’s gotten her a lot of heat. She may lose her position in the party. She may even lose her career as a politician. But that is something to be admired. Standing up for the truth. That’s something her father wouldn’t have done,” he said sealing her fate.

Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said of the big vote today:

“Having heard from so many of you in recent days, it’s clear that we need to make a change. As such, you should anticipate a vote on recalling the Conference Chair this Wednesday.

“These internal conflicts need to be resolved so as to not detract from the efforts of our collective team. Our leadership team cannot afford to be distracted from the important work we were elected to do and the shared goals we hope to achieve. The stakes are too high to come up short.”

He added: “It had been my hope that our driving focus would be taking back the House in 2022 and implementing our Commitment to America.

“Despite the mainstream media working overtime against us, I believe we still have a great chance to do so.

“Unfortunately, each day spent relitigating the past is one day less we have to seize the future.

“This is no time to take our eye off the ball.

“If we are to succeed in stopping the radical Democrat agenda from destroying our country, these internal conflicts need to be resolved so as to not detract from the efforts of our collective team.

“We are a big tent party. We represent Americans of all backgrounds and continue to grow our movement by the day.

“And unlike the left, we embrace free thought and debate.

“All members are elected to represent their constituents as they see fit but our leadership team cannot afford to be distracted from the important work we were elected to do and the shared goals we hope to achieve.

“The stakes are too high to come up short. I trust you agree.”
