General James Mattis Out As Defense Secretary

President Trump just shocked the world and announced that James Mattis is leaving his administration.

This is not the first time Trump has made history today with the veto over the wall and the total change in military strategy, today will go down in history.

He stunned everyone when he ordered the troops pulled back from Syria and rumors are swirling Afghanistan is next.

This is a shakeup that has been a long time coming and the response from the establishment has been predictable.

They hate the idea that we will no longer be the world’s policeman and while we serve a good role in the world we cannot nor should not be everywhere, especially to line the pockets of the neocons.

Trump’s detractors want to say this is a payoff to Turkey or Russia but Trump has held these views for years and campaigned hard on ending these foreign misadventures.

Which leads to the stunning move – General James Mattis is out. He will retire in February and most assume the reason is the military change of direction.

Which is normal when we change course. From The Hill:

Defense Secretary James Mattis will retire at the end of February, President Trump announced on Thursday night.

The announcement comes shortly after the White House said the U.S. would be withdrawing its troops from Syria, a move that came despite reported concerns among Pentagon officials.

“General Jim Mattis will be retiring, with distinction, at the end of February, after having served my Administration as Secretary of Defense for the past two years,” Trump tweeted in part.

General Jim Mattis will be retiring, with distinction, at the end of February, after having served my Administration as Secretary of Defense for the past two years. During Jim’s tenure, tremendous progress has been made, especially with respect to the purchase of new fighting….

….equipment. General Mattis was a great help to me in getting allies and other countries to pay their share of military obligations. A new Secretary of Defense will be named shortly. I greatly thank Jim for his service!”
